Hobby Talk: Succulent Arrangements

If you are looking for a new quarantine hobby, try your hand at making succulent arrangements. They are easy to create and their unique look can be the perfect decor for your home. They are also very easy to maintain, as they do not require a lot of attention.

You will need:

1. succulents of your choice *I recommend at least three succulent plants. Choose plants you think will look good together.

2. potting soil

3. plant pot with drainage hole *If you can’t find a pot with a drainage hole, place rocks or gravel at the bottom of the pot to allow the water to drain out of the soil.

4. decorative rocks (optional) *You can place rocks on top of the soil to enhance the look of your arrangement or you can leave the soil exposed.

5. trowel or small shovel

Where can I find succulent plants?

  • local nurseries

  • local hardware store gardening sections

  • local farmer’s markets

  • online shops (Etsy, Amazon)

Assembly

  1. Place the succulent plants (still in their original containers) in the new plant pot. Move the plants around to decide the best placement of each plant.

  2. Once you have your desired placement, remove the plants from their original containers and place them in the new plant pot. *If your pot does not have a drainage hole, place rocks or gravel at the bottom of the pot before putting the plants inside.

  3. Using a trowel or small shovel, scoop the potting soil into the open spaces between the plants until the entire pot is filled with soil.

  4. Arrange the decorative rocks on top of the soil as you like.

  5. Water the succulents and display your new arrangement in your desired location!

Happy Potting!

*Read about your particular plants online to find out their watering and sun needs.
